A State of Confusion: Students Talk about Writing in College

This film was designed as a discussion starter for college freshman writing classes. Most teachers that use it say it is a wonderful tool for teaching writing and really any class that deals with the creative process. As a filmmaker I still quote this film almost everyday. Matt Black in the film says, "Saying there is only one way to write is like saying there only on way to think." I think about that everyday as I work in films, there is not one way to shoot an interview, one way to start a film and on and on. This film was commissioned by Hal Miller at BYU and BJ Fogg acted as producer. This film has won several awards at film festivals.

Tiny surprises for happiness and health - Forget big change, start with a tiny habit:

www.tedxfremont.com What if someone told you to floss only one tooth everyday? Or start the new year, not with grand resolutions, but with a simple challenge.. like ONE pushup a day? BJ Fogg shows us that the key to lasting change does not lie in planning big, monumental changes, but in thinking really, really small. Chosen by Fortune Magazine as one of "10 New Gurus You Should Know", Fogg directs the Persuasive Tech Lab at Stanford University.

Habit Design® Workshop: A Fireside Chat with Dr. BJ Fogg: Director, Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab (Part 1 of 3)

We were thrilled to have BJ join us to kickoff our first workshop of 2013 to discuss some advanced topics in the field of sustainable behavior-change. We tried a different "master class" format which filtered pre-submitted questions from selective members who were already highly familiar with six of BJ's related works: the "Fogg Behavior Model", "Behavior Grid", "3 Steps to New Habits", "Tiny Habits", "Motivation Wave", & "Celebrate Tiny Successes". Apologies for the somewhat dark lighting. About BJ: For most of us, BJ needs no introduction since his research, insights, and tools for behavior change have been highly influential to many of us. Habit Design itself was created during BJ's inaugural "Bootcamp" and then launched at his Stanford Mobile Health Conference. Dr. BJ Fogg directs the Persuasive Tech Lab at Stanford University. A psychologist and innovator, he devotes at least half of his time to industry projects. His work empowers people to think clearly about the psychology of persuasion — and then to convert those insights into real-world outcomes. BJ has created a new model of human behavior change, which guides research and design. Outside of Stanford BJ teaches how to apply behavior change insights in a new series of Persuasion Boot Camps. He is the founder and director of Mobile Health at Stanford, an event that highlights what really works to improve health behavior. Helping people create health habits is one of BJ’s primary interests. He is the author of Persuasive Technology: Using Computers to Change What We Think and Do, a book that explains how computers can motivate and influence people. BJ is also the co-editor of Mobile Persuasion, as well as Texting 4 Health. Fortune Magazine selected him as a “New Guru You Should Know.” ****************** Don't want to wait for our featured researcher talks to get posted? Come join us in person, we'd love to meet you!
