Muir Song

In January of 2016 I made the decision to move from the picturesque Pacific Northwest to New York City. Living in New York had long been a dream of mine, but doing so meant leaving the beauty of Seattle and the wilderness that surrounds it. During the summer, fall and winter leading up to the move I chose to create a film as my way of giving back the PNW for all it had given to me… and thus, Muir Song was born. The inspiration for this film came from my time living and being active in the PNW. My goal was to capture the energy and attitude of exploring Washington through the eyes of people who do so religiously. The film is set to a quote by legendary conservationist John Muir, and narrated by infamous mountain climber, Lou Whittaker. We were extremely resourceful in shooting this film due to challenging locations, and chose to backpack all of our gear into remote areas in order to find unique angles of the PNW. Our kit was small and mobile, but shooting on the Dragon with an anamorphic adapter enabled us to achieve a cinematic aesthetic without compromising portability. I'm excited to release Muir Song on April 21st, what would have been John Muir's 178th birthday. World Vision- The Zambia Project

I had the pleasure of shooting this piece for World Vision. To say it was an eye opening trip would be an understatement. As crazy as it is to imagine drinking contaminated water everyday, it's even crazier when you realize that so many people spend the majority of their time just looking for it. World Vision is an amazing organization doing great things in Zambia and all over the world. Typhoon Haiyan

Natural disasters are grizzly things. There's no two ways about it. With little warning they appear, and when they leave they almost always take lives with them. There's no one to blame, and often times there's little that can be done in terms of preparation. After typhoon Haiyan destroyed the Philippines I was asked to document the aftermath. Naturally, I intended to capture a story of destruction. What I found however, was a story of resilience. I hope this story encourages you to be thankful for what you have. Not just that you have a good job or a nice car, but simply thankful that you're alive and have people around you to share your life with. I met Naomi 2 minutes into a scouting trip in a rural Maasai village deep in the heart of Kenya. Our plan was to take our time finding the right woman to represent all of the amazing work World Vision is doing for women in the area, but immediately after we met Naomi we new our search was over, and began filming on the spot. There's something to be said about the strength of women in the Maasai tribe. Often times the responsibility of finding, gathering, and providing water to their families rests solely upon their shoulders. With this responsibility comes the unfair burden of knowing that most of the water to be collected lies in shallow wells and stagnant ponds, and is not safe to drink. These women literally devote their lives to the search for water, and when they find it, have to watch their children become sick from drinking it. World Vision is an amazing organization doing great things in Kenya and all over the world. To say that their work in Naomi's village has made an impact on her life is an understatement. Their commitment to change the world one village at a time has inspired me, and I hope after watching this video you will feel inspired as well. To learn more about their fight to end the global water crisis visit: Happy Mother's Day. The Fetishization of Virginity

The Fetishization of Virginity An educational investigation that asks why concepts like virginity (specifically female virginity) might be elevated to a fetish-like status. It traces a biological argument as well as a fly through early hominid transition into agriculture. Then it moves towards linguistic, evolutionary, patriarchal, and ideological reasoning. The study is incomplete but hopefully will allow further argumentation and inquiry. Clearhead would like to introduce to you our latest film campaign - #getlost. We want to change what it is to tell someone to "get lost". Who says it's a bad thing to spend a day without a smart phone, be outside and get away from your day-to-day? This film is the first in a series of pieces coming soon that explores that very notion. Get lost is a challenge. A challenge to find yourself. Sometimes to find yourself you must first become lost. We challenge you to explore and be adventurous, search out your special place and discover who you are. Filmed in one of Seattle's finest locations with our incredible friend Janssen Powers, we captured a day of getting out there, finding a space in it's truexst form and enjoying one of life's simplest, yet most fulfilling joys - the great outdoors. Visit to watch the film and for more on our challenge to you to "find your compass". #getlost Music - "BlackBird Song" by Lee DeWyze. Available on iTunes -
