(no)where(now)here : 2 gaze-activated dresses by ying gao

The series comprising two dresses, made of photoluminescent thread and eye tracking technology, is activated by spectators' gaze. A photograph is said to be “spoiled” by blinking eyes – here however, the concept of presence and of disappearance are questioned, as the experience of chiaroscuro (clarity/obscurity) is achieved through an unfixed gaze.

Twenty Bikes: No Where To Ride

Featuring rider Nicolas Cambon, Twenty Bikes have put some real effort into making this short web edit. Its been well planned, well shot, put together more like a story than a BMX video of clips of wicked spots. The music that accompanies it kinda works real good but to be honest moans on a little bit over the full 6 mins but it fits in real well with the style and pace of the video. Love it, well done guys! 6. About Wayne "Where No One Goes"

About Wayne

The music video, directed by Rino Stefano Tagliafierro and Laila Sonsino, freely reinterprets the myth of "Lady Godiva" and "Orpheus and Eurydice". Everything revolves around the sense of sight: the characters in the scene aren't allowed to look at what is going on, only the viewer has the option to do so. An extreme slow motion emphasizes the one long take, while the B / N helps underline the dramatic tension that explodes with an unexpected ending. 11. No Fish Where to Go (Trailer)

No Fish Where to Go (Trailer)

In this short animation based on Marie-Francine Hébert's 2003 book of the same name, a friendship unites two little girls from opposing clans in a village where tensions are mounting. The citizens with the red shoes clearly despise those without, and one fateful morning, one of the girls and her family are accosted at gunpoint by their oppressors. The little girl barely has time to grab her beloved pet fish before the men are herded to one side and the women and children to the other. So begins our protagonist's long and painful journey as she seeks shelter for herself, her mother, and her fish. This modern tale compassionately and poetically addresses intolerance and the consequences of war.

14. I Believe I Can Fly (Flight of the Frenchies)

I Believe I Can Fly (Flight of the Frenchies)

I Believe I Can Fly (Flight of the Frenchies) is an amazing journey into the unknown. Two friends test the boundaries of free flight and friendship as they take their passion in a totally new direction. Join Tancrède and Julien on an incredible exploration into the world of free flight. The two friends are pioneers in ‘highlining’ - a vertiginous combination of climbing, slackline and tightrope walking. Using their skills and experience as climbers, the pair push their boundaries beyond the realms of possibility as they embark on a new evolution of their sport. We travel from the Verdon gorge to the skyscrapers of Paris, and finally to the spectacular cliffs and fjords of Norway - where the pair plan to put weeks spent training to the ultimate test. Could months of planning and training really lead them to their dream of complete freedom... the freedom of flight? The talented friends featured in my film have been instrumental in the innovation and development of highlining and baselining, and this exciting project was born from their passion and love for what they do. It was filmed amongst a group of friends, with no funding or sponsorship for the training, filming & production involved.

The Art of Making, The Carpenter

This is where it all began. It was our first attempt to design and produce one of our ideas for a film. Having done the shooting, we were not happy with the result and so we had to scrap the initial idea and start all over. We experimented and improvised with the music, the editing and the graphics until we felt we had something. Having no expectations, we posted it on vimeo. The feedback was quick and overwhelming. People’s comments from around the world, gave us the motivation to continue with more films for the series. http://deepgreensea.net/projects/the-carpenter.html directed / edited / vfx - Dimitris Ladopoulos, Spiros Rasidakis director of photography - Nikos Mexis sound design - Nikos Tsines music - The Three Corners of the Earth, The Fire Shall Devour Us (shot using available light, with Canon 5D+7D, edited in Final Cut Pro X, tracked with PFTrack, composited in After Effects)

The City Limits

/ About the Project As of today, it is estimated that there are more than 7 billion humans living on Earth. Humans have only been a glimpse in the Earth’s timeline, yet in the last 200 years the evolution of mankind has skyrocketed as well as the need for Earth’s resources. Skyscrapers are growing taller than the next, like huge trees battling for sunlight. At night, from a higher point of view, traffic evokes lava flowing down a volcano. Like a giant ant colony, humans have made this planet their own. But what about the Earth? Can we continue to take without consequences? The City Limits tries to show that even though we are the dominant species on the planet, there is something bigger than us. In Carl Sagan’s own words “Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us.” Human progress and technology are developing at exponential rates but at what cost? Where is the city’s limit? / Technical Info Camera: Canon 5D Mark II Lenses: Canon 14 II, Canon 24 II, Canon 70-200 / Licensing For licensing information please visit: www.dominicboudreault.com/licensing / Connect with Me Website: www.dominicboudreault.com Twitter: twitter.com/domboudreault Instagram: instagram.com/dominicboudreault

No Laughing Matter - 3 - Was that where it was at?

No Laughing Matter – Visions of a surf mat enthusiast Episode 3: Was that where it was at? Location: County Santosha, Ireland Close to where I used to live was this myth. The few folks who know where it is all have their theories on what conditions it needs - how big it needs to be and from where to get it working, what tide... that's grand so. Sometimes though when you turn up to a place when it shouldn't be working... This day wasn't that big but by crikey was it fast - providing you were on the right equipment. I've still got little idea about what is going on in that bubble between my belly and the wave - it's like you're flying a soap bubble across a razor's edge - any moment it could all go wrong but for now... WOOOO! The clips in this No Laughing Matter series are intended to evolve with technique both on the mat and post-production. If you dig it, great - we're both winning. - Surf mats built by Matt Fedden (mattsurfmat.com) - Land footage by Fionn Rogers (fionnrogers.ie) - Water footage taken with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black (1080W 30) using a Grill-Mount (prostandard.com)
